Highlights from Oxfam's Biggest Coffee Break 2012

What a mammoth success! Over 60,000 Kiwis celebrated Fair Trade Fortnight by taking part in Oxfam’s Biggest Coffee Break 2012 making it our biggest ever.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported a better deal for struggling growers by enjoying Fairtrade Certified goodies, engaging friends and family in conversations about fairness, donating time or money, or bidding on one of our celebrity Fair Trade Me auctions.

Fair TradeMe celeb auctions 2012

Thanks to all the celebrities and supporters who took part in Oxfam’s Biggest Coffee Break Fair TradeMe celeb auctions 2012, raising a whopping $3300 towards Oxfam's work.  Once again, a selection of our best loved celebs auctioned their time on TradeMe, offering their fans the chance to meet them over a fair trade cuppa.

Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords raised $1600 with a very special celebrity auction – the winning bidder not only won the chance to meet Bret but also walked away with a guitar signed by Bret and Conchords partner Jemaine Clement!

Also on offer in 2012 was the chance to pick the brains of World Cup winning All Blacks coach Sir Graham Henry; a visit to the set of Nothing Trivial with actor Shane Cortese; lunch at Wellington's Logan Brown with restaurateur Steve Logan; a visit to the Auckland Art Gallery with actor Michelle Langstone; and sharing design and business ideas with Starfish owner Laurie Foon.

New for 2012 – something special just for schools

New for 2012 - Chocolate Break!

Teachers and students were invited to take part in the inaugural celebration of Oxfam's Biggest Chocolate Break. Chocolate Break is a sweet twist on Coffee Break and although the basics remain the same, schools participating in Oxfam's Biggest Chocolate Break received tailored resources and ideas on how students of all ages can learn about fair choices in a fun way and help make a big difference in the lives of people living in poverty in the world's poorest countries.
